Vice Chancellor’s Award for Chris Skinner

Chris Skinner, Professor of Statistics at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), has been successful in obtaining a Vice Chancellor’s Visiting International Scholar Award. This will enable Chris to visit NIASRA from 16 January to 23 March 2017.

Chris is an acknowledged world leader in developing innovative statistical methodology in the social sciences, including design and analysis of complex survey data, imputation for missing data, longitudinal surveys, statistical disclosure control, measuring and handling non-response and measurement errors, dual frame estimation methods and linked data. Prof Skinner is a member of the British Academy and has been awarded a CBE for his services to social statistics and is editor and major contributor to two major monographs on the analysis of survey data.

During his visit Chris will undertake collaborative research with several NIASRA members, and be involved in several activities, including:

  • Keynote speaker for a one-day NIASRA workshop on Frontiers in Social Statistics Methodology, to be held in Sydney (8 Feb);
  • Participate in a half-day workshop with quantitative researchers in Social Sciences faculty on relevant developments in Social Statistics methodology (14 February);
  • Presentation at a NIASRA fellows meeting involving Canberra/Wollongong/Sydney based researchers (22 Feb).
